Vince Ollie Wines of Port Adelaide

Ollie Wines finished with 36 votes, equaling Richmond Champion Dustin Martin’s record in 2017, while Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli fell slightly, with 33 votes. Wines is the only Port Adelaide player to have won the Brownlow Medal. He sealed victory in the final round, receiving two votes for his brilliant performance against the Bulldogs as Bontempelli, who had a rare quiet game, failed to vote. Melbourne tough Clayton Oliver (31 votes), Carlton rising ace Sam Walsh (30), Essendon sensation Darcy Parish (26) and St Kilda gun Jack Steele (26) all stayed with the group of head deep into the count. Four players (Wines, Bontempelli, Oliver and Walsh) collected 30 or more votes for the first time in history.
